[EDITORIAL] Meeting Abstracts : The 22nd International Conference on Bioinformatics (InCoB 2023)

Abstract
This book includes the abstracts of the keynote, oral, poster, demo, highlight, and workshop presentations delivered at the 22nd International Conference on Bioinformatics (InCoB), under the theme of “Translational Bioinformatics Transforming Life”. The conference was held from the 12th to 15th November 2023 and was organized by the Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Translational Research Institute (TRI) and the Asia Pacific Bioinformatics Network (APBioNET). The conference aimed to bring together researchers, decision makers, educators, and scholars from the Asia & Pacific region and beyond for a scientific discourse and exchange on the state-of-the-art in the field, while providing for networking opportunities. InCoB 2023 successfully attracted as many as 138 submissions, several of which were for publication consideration in (MDPI – Cancers, Genes, IJMS, Biology, and BiomedInformatics; and Frontiers journals as part of a Research Topic Collection). We thank all the participants, the members of the organizing and scientific committee, and we look forward to their continued support in the future.

As announced earlier, the time has come to  vote for a new slate of APBioNet ExCo members. There are both experienced candidates who are currently serving as ExCo members as well as new candidates, covering different Asia-Pacific countries.

These ExCo members will serve the organization for 2 years, during which they will decide the direction of the organization, and provide the necessary leadership required to make it a success.

This year, the election process shall consist of e- Voting phase from 20 September – 22 October 2024.

[ARTICLE] A global initiative on addressing bioinformatics’ grand challenges

Journal Excerpt: 

The Bioinformatics Grand Challenges Consortium (BGCC) is a collaborative effort to address the most pressing challenges in bioinformatics. Initially focusing on education and training, the consortium successfully defined seven key grand challenges and is actively developing actionable solutions for these challenges. Building on this foundation, the BGCC plans to broaden its focus to include additional grand challenges in emerging areas.
