Career Summary:
Dr Wisnu Ananta Kusuma is an associate professor at the Department of Computer Science, IPB University. He is also the coordinator of the Bioinformatics Working Group, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science, IPB University and the High-Performance Computing and Bioinformatics Research cluster at the Advanced Laboratory Unit, IPB University. His current research interest is bioinformatics, high-performance computing, machine learning and network analysis. During his PhD study, he was involved in the Next Generation Sequencing Data Analysis and Meta-genomic research based on a machine learning approach funded by Global Centre of Excellence CompView, Tokyo Institute of Technology. Currently, he is conducting collaborative research with some institutions, such as the Indonesian Medical Education and Research Institute, University of Indonesia; Faculty of Medicine, University of Jember, Faculty of Medicine, Islamic University of Indonesia, Faculty of Pharmacy, Airlangga University, Surabaya, Indonesia.

As participant at the International Conference of Bioinformatics 2019 (InCob 2019) organized by University of Yarsi, Jakarta, Indonesia
Proposed future contributions to APBioNET:
– Coordinate knowledge-sharing forums (monthly webinars – free) from bioinformatics experts of Asia Pacific, especially the APBionet members, to minimize the knowledge gap
– Encouraging discussions or studies on bioinformatics in biodiversity exploration, for example, the discovery of natural products for herbal medicine or functional food, genomic conservation, etc.
– Establish and activate student branches if they don’t exist yet
