CAREER SUMMARY:

Working on using about 19 years of experience gained in the corporate and academic sector to strengthen the skill set of the students in the field of Bioinformatics and to contribute to developing the best human resource in this field. As a member of International organizations and being involved in collaborative research with teammates from various countries, I wish to bring awareness about the latest trends as well as the best opportunities available in Bioinformatics and allied fields. I am currently working as a Head PG Department of Bioinformatics, Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar, Punjab, India. I am appointed as Vice President APBioNET, Finance Secretary (November 2017 to January 2022) Bioclues.org, and Representative GALAXY India. I am also the member of the ISCB. I have obtained a Ph. D in Biotechnology from GNDU, Amritsar, and Advanced PG Diploma in Bioinformatics from JNU, New Delhi. My research interests cover the areas of Structural Bioinformatics, Molecular Graphics, Data Analytics, and Machine learning. I have published 32 research papers and 6 book chapters in journals of international repute. 

Contributions to APBioNET:

I have been associated with APBioNET since the last four years as an ExCo member (Formerly Secretary and currently Vice President) and contributed in many diverse activities. During the current tenure, I have been involved in Grand Challenges in Bioinformatics Education and Research where I contributed actively in formulating the grand challenges along with other team members and was a co-author in our article published in Nature Biotechnology. We are now moving ahead in this vertical towards providing solutions to these proposed grand challenges. I am also the member of the International Research Consortium and currently working on a review article which is being attempted to summarize various aspects of managing and optimally using MD simulation data. I have been instrumental in my contribution to developing many policies, collaborations and new initiatives at APBioNET including Students council, Research Awards, Collaborating with InStats etc. The most significant achievement during the current tenure was my active involvement in InCoB2023 as a steering committee member as well as a representative to personally attend and manage this conference at Brisbane, Australia. I am playing active role in organizing other events, specifically as a steering committee member of our upcoming flagship event, APBJC 2024.  I have tried to expand the APBioNET network further and am very hope that this will lead to increase in membership and getting more helpful hands in ApBioNET for its sustainability

Proposed future contributions to APBioNET:

I have gained a reasonable experience in various affairs of APBioNET, its functioning and future goals. I will work dedicatedly in continuing my contribution in Conference/Event planning, Education grand Challenges, Research Consortium and collaboration strategies to take these initiatives to the next level. I will specifically with other team members to increase memberships in future and further streamlining the functioning of APBioNET. Moreover, I will work on two of the pending but important tasks, HPC and Quantum Computing/Bioinformatics initiatives to get kick started.
