MAIN VENUE The HKUST Campus The HKUST is situated at the Eastern part of Hong Kong in Kowloon mainland by the beautiful ClearWater Bay. Local Transport From the HK International Airport at Chek Lap Kok island, HKUST is within an hour's direct ride from the HK subway, with taxis into campus conveniently and cheaply accessible. International Travel into Hong Kong For most international participants, visa requirements for HK Special Autonomous Region (HK SAR) are not a serious inconvenience compared to other venues such as in PR China or Vietnam. The Hong Kong International Airport is served by all major airlines and is a popular destination for budget airlines. It is within five hours flying time from most places in East Asia, and conveniently accessible by direct flight from Australia (10-12 hours from major Australia cities), North America (12 hours from the west coast) and Europe (12 hours from western Europe). Visa Requirements to Hong Kong Asia-Pacific Countries requiring no visa to attend InCoB2007 (up to 14 days in most cases) with a standard passport with at least six months validity: Australia, Bhutan, India, Indonesia, Japan, Jordan, Korea (Republic of), Kuwait, Malaysia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Thailand, Turkey, United Arab Emirates. University Accommodation All participants are encouraged to register for economical and comfortable modern accommodation within the breathtakingly beautiful HKUST campus for convenience and ease of access to the conference site. Hotel Accommodation Local three to five star Hotels within convenient train/bus/taxi reach of the HKUST campus are plentiful in the Tsim Sha Tsui /Mong Kuk area and also in the North Point / Quarry Bay area. Local transport between certain recommended hotels and the HKUST campus is planned (not confirmed yet due to no demand). HKUST Travel Guide HKUST is on mainland Kowloon, as opposed to Hong Kong Island, situated at a particularly scenic hillspot on the Eastern coast of the Kowloon peninsula, called Clearwater Bay, with a nice beachfront. When you arrive at the Airport at Chek Lap Kok Island, another island off the Western coast of Kowloon, there are excellent bus and train links into Kowloon Mainland and Hong Kong Island at very affordable rates. Taxis are more expensive as the journey from the airport to town is at least half an hour. Most of the Hotels are clustered in central Kowloon around TsimSha Tsui and MongKok district, and in Hong Kong island, a few in North Point area. So a good idea would be either to stay in HKUST campus guest rooms, or in hotels the TsimShaTsui area or the North Point area, because there are convenient train lines transporting you to close to HKUST. From these train stations close to HKUST, you can either take a taxi or a bus from these stations to HKUST campus. The conference venue is located in the same building where the main entrance of the HKUST campus called the Piazza (Italian) ie the plaza (Spanish. The bus and taxis will drop you there. HKUST campus is like a food paradise with lots of restaurants and eating places, including those by the beach. HK MTR train map Illustrated Travel Guide on how to get from Tsim Sha Tsui station to and from HKUST by George AuYeong. From downtown Tsim Sha Tsui, he assures us that the southern route is much faster. Routing from the overland Green Line, 18 stops from TsimShaTsui (45mins) compared to 14 stops with two transfers using the Hong Kong Island southern route (30mins), even though it crosses the sea underwater twice! If you are staying at the YMCA International at Yau Ma Tei, you are only two stops from TsimShaTsui. Where to eat
