5th International Conference on Bioinformatics
InCoB 2006
New Delhi, India
18-20 December 2006

Dear APBioNetters,

As you are aware, we are organizing the annual APBioNet conference, InCoB 2006 at New Delhi, Dec. 18-20, 2006 (http://www.incob2006.in/). Each year, InCoB has been publishing conference proceedings with abstracts and/or papers. However, we did not generate any InCoB-related journal articles.

This year, we are happy to announce that the open access journal, BMC Bioinformatics (http://www.biomedcentral.com/bmcbioinformatics/) has kindly agreed to publish a Special Issue of InCoB 2006 Proceedings. The editors of this issue are:

  1. Shoba Ranganathan, President, APBionet
  2. Tin Wee Tan, APBioNet Secretariat and
  3. Michael Gribskov, President, ISCB.

We are therefore calling for papers for review. The papers will be peer-reviewed by at least two reviewers, from the APBioNet Executive Committee and the InCoB Executive Committee.

If accepted, the authors agree to pay the Open Access publication processing charge (GBP 600) levied by BMC Bioinformatics. One author of each accepted publication should also register for InCoB2006. There will be no waivers provided for developing countries, as this is a special issue.

  1. Authors are requested to refer to BMC Bioinformatics guidelines for authors ( (http://www.biomedcentral.com/bmcbioinformatics/ifora/).
  2. Please prepare a single manuscript PDF file with the main text, tables and figures.
  3. Prepare a covering letter (as PDF) agreeing to bear the Open Access publication processing charge and to register for InCoB 2006.
  4. Submit your manuscript and covering letter by email to both Shoba Ranganathan and Tin Wee Tan (shoba _at_ els.mq.edu.au and tinwee _at_ bic.nus.edu.sg). We also welcome your suggestions for two suitable reviewers (name, affiliation and email), who will provide rapid reviews.

Manuscript submission deadline: August 25, 2006.
Manuscript acceptance by: Sept. 18, 2006.

We look forward to an excellent special issue of BMC Bioinformatics, to be released by Dec 2006, showcasing the bioinformatics strengths of this region.

With best wishes,

Shoba Ranganathan
President, APBionet
